For those of you who are shy, or don’t have the faintest idea how you are going to be able to sell your Avon to strangers, you’ve come to the right article! This is not an easy task by no means for shy or introverted people. I am one of those people, but I am working on that all the time. Hopefully the tips in this article will help you overcome your insecurities.
WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN BEFORE YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF SUCCESSFUL?
Write down what your picture of success is. Everyone is different, so your image of success doesn’t have to be a house in Malibu. It could simply be having all of your bills paid on time.
CREATE GOALS!
Once you see yourself successful, think about what you have to do to attain that. If you think goals are not important, think again! Also, do not set your goals too high. Yes, you do have your ultimate goal of what you see as success, but you must set mini-goals in order to reach it. For instance, set a goal of speaking to at least one stranger a day. You don’t have to mention Avon, unless the conversation sways that way. You just want to get used to the idea of striking up conversations with strangers. Your next goal may be two strangers a day. Following that, three strangers, giving one of them your business card and/or brochure. The main idea is to set goals here.
SMILE! When you approach people, smile at them. Don’t look down at your feet, hiding from them. Hold your head high! You have something wonderful to offer these people!
LOSE THE GUILT! You are not giving your customers some sort of sales pitch for a lousy product. Avon is wonderful, you know it, I know it. So feel good about what you are selling! Sure, you’re making a little money. Don’t feel guilty about taking theirs. You have presented a wonderful product line for them to shop from. They know you’ll make a cut. I’ve never had a customer ask me how much I’m making off of them!
FIND COMMON GROUND. Depending on where you are or who you’re with, find common ground. If you’re at the grocery store, talk about the great sale on canned vegetables. Of course the weather is always an option, no matter where you are! Speak about your surroundings, wherever you are. You never know when the conversation will swing to Avon.
